The present-day ships are more diversified in their shapes and uses.Particularly, many small ships have come to be built of FRP and the large ships are in trend to lighten their weight for their sizes. These induce the new requirement of ship for lower face pressure of fender besides the effective and safe berthing operation. Our Pi-Type fender can answer such requirement. But it is the indirect contact type equipped with wide rubbing board. BETA-TYPE(hereinater called β-TYPE) fender is the new type of direct contact fender with no rubbing board. It has been transformed from LMD-Type fender to respond the social needs mentioned above. |

1. 25% HIGHER ENERGY ABSORPTION CAPACITY |
|
|
For a certain reaction load, its energy absorption capacity is higher by 25% than V-shape fender in the same height with the former's. The ratio of E/RH ofβ-TYPE is 0.42 whereas the V-shape's is 0.33.
This allows us the supply of shorter fender than V-shape to economize the fender price.

2. LOWER FACE PRESSURE |

The face pressure is lower than those of conventional V-shape and LMD-Type fenders by about 45%, and the fender secures the more safe berthing of ship. |

3. SIMPLE IN SHAPE, STABLE IN PERFORMANCE |

Like LMD-type, β-TYPE fender is designed to have the simple shape by employing the Finite Element Method through computer operation. Thanks to this simple shape, it does not concentrate the stress to a certain part of it to elongate its service life. The wide and flat top of fender body contacting ship hull ensures the stable performance including face pressure during the compression process of fender. This stable performance is irrespective of kind or reinforcing construction, etc. of ship |
